Stare, Squint, Nod 1 (Round 1)

This is the first of what will be a few mock drafts over the course of the season. For now, we will keep it at one round, but as we do more and more versions we'll get into a second round as well. Enjoy.

1. Buffalo- Andrew Luck QB Stanford 6'4 235
-Bills need a franchise QB, he has completely overtaken Locker/Mallett. His experience in a pro offense at Stanford as well as his escapability should energize the Bills organization.

2. Carolina- A.J. Green WR Georgia 6'4 207
-What a better way to help your young QB (Clausen) then with the next stud WR. Green is maybe the best talent in this draft, and the Panthers--well they don't have much of that.

3. Dallas- Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa 6'4 285
-'Boys would most need an OT, so they would probably trade down. But Clayborn is probably the top overall defensive end in the draft, he can get after the passer, he stops the run, and he never stops.

4. Detroit- Patrick Peterson CB LSU 6'2 211
-Young QB/RB/WR combo? Check. Defensive line? Check. How about a shutdown corner? Peterson could be a pro-bowler from day one in the NFL. He's like Antonio Cromartie except smarter between the ears.

5. Denver- Marcell Dareus DE/DT Alabama 6'3 309
-If McDaniels is still there, count on this getting screwed up. The Broncos haven't stopped the run since I was in 3rd grade (that's like 14 years ago), therefore getting someone who can clog the running game is needed.

6. San Francisco- Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson 6'4 275
-Niners could go Quarterback, but they take Bowers who will be a beast getting after the passer. With a new coach likely coming in, Bowers can play 4-3 end or 3-4 OLB with his athletic ability making him a scary weapon on defense.

7. Cincinnati- Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska 6'1 205
-In most years, Amukamara would go top 5. Bengals cornerback play was solid last season, this year Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph have not gotten the job done.

8. Arizona- Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas 6'7 238
-Derek Anderson and Max Hall not doin' it for ya? Okay, here's the best arm in the NFL from day one. He may be more Jay Cutler than Sam Bradford, but there is absolutely no throw he cannot make.

9. Cleveland- Drake Nevis DT LSU 6'2 285
-Late bloomer has the skills to play the nose or end in a 3-4. Very versatile. He's a guy that you cannot block with one man (watch his Alabama tape), Nevis will be an NFL stud.

10. Minnesota- Stephen Paea DT Oregon State 6'1 311
-Pat Williams is on his death bed, Paea would compliment K-Will well with his pass rushing skills from the tackle spot. Paea could add a little bit more weight and become even more of a monster.

11. Washington- Julio Jones WR Alabama 6'4 220
-Shanahan does love his Quarterbacks, but right now he doesn't have anyone that can catch the ball. Jones hasn't been as productive as Green, but in the right offense Jones could be a top WR in the NFL.

12. Jacksonville- Jake Locker QB Washington 6'3 230
-Locker has bust written all over him. But the Jags could mold him and wait a year or two. There's no doubting his physical ability (which makes him hard to pass on), but there's just something off.

13. St. Louis- Nate Solder OT Colorado 6'9 315
-Bradford has surpassed expectations, now they just have to build around him. Solder can step in on day one and protect the Franchise's backside for years to come.

14. New England (from Oakland)-Allen Bailey DE/DT Miami (FL) 6'4 290
-Pats defensive line is in desperate need of youth. Versatile Bailey will test out as good as any linemen in the draft, but hasn't quite had the production to match. Belichick will get the most out of him.

15. Houston- DeAndre McDaniel S Clemson 6'1 215

-Here's a gift for the NFL's worst passing defense--a ball-hawking safety. McDaniel will immediately start at safety. He's having a down year so far, but you try intercepting passes with a broken hand.

16. Tampa Bay- DeAndre Brown WR Southern Miss 6'5 230
-Out of the box pick, amazing athletic and leaping ability could become a star. When he wants to play, he's scary good, but he seems to have some character and work ethic issues making him a risk.

17. Miami- DeMarco Murray RB Oklahoma 6'1 207
-Ricky is old, Ronnie always gets hurt, Murray is an all-purpose back who can also return kicks. Murray never quite lived up to his "Reggie Bush" hype, but he will probably be a better NFL player than Bush.

18. San Diego- Robert Quinn DE/OLB North Carolina 6'5 268
-Merriman is gone and the Bolts could use a good rush end to "charge" up their defense. Quinn sat out all year for agent issues with the NCAA, but make no mistake he's a big time talent.

19. Chicago- Brandon Harris CB Miami (FL) 5'11 195
-Bears defense could use an upgrade in the secondary and O-line. Best player at this time is Harris. He has consistently improved at Miami and has been a starter since frosh year.

20. Tennessee- Marvin Austin DT North Carolina 6'3 310
-Taking a kid with some issues and getting the talent out of him? Taylor-made for Fisher. Austin was another highly touted Tar Heel that had agent contact problems, but he will test very well as long as he's in shape.

21. Seattle- Cameron Newton QB Auburn 6'6 250
-Vince Young went in top 5. Tebow in 1st round. Newton is a better physical specimen than both and miles ahead of Tebow as a passer. If it doesn't work out he's already shown the ability to catch the ball...

22. Kansas City- Stefan Wisniewski C/OG Penn State 6'3 306
-A young team getting better and better gets a future pro-bowler at center to improve a line that's doing a nice job opening up holes.

23. New Orleans- Marcus Cannon OG TCU 6'6 350
-Saints don't have many holes, but the versatile Cannon should be a fixture at RG going forward.

24. Philadelphia- Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin 6'7 327
-Carimi is a stud run blocking but does need a little growth in pass protection. Good thing Vick would be his QB.

25. Indianapolis- Derrick Sherod OT Mississippi State 6'6 305
-Athletic Sherod will either be boom or bust, he has all the ability in the world but can he put it together?

26. Green Bay- Cameron Jordan DE/DT California 6'4 283
-Another jack of all trades, could play nose in some siutations but looks like a natural as a 3-4 end, which the Packers need badly.

27. Baltimore- Bruce Carter OLB North Carolina 6'3 235
-As usual, the Ravens will take the best player available. Carter has amazing speed for his position and should help fill some of the holes Ray-Ray is too slow to get too.

28. NY Jets- Jeremy Beal DE/OLB Oklahoma 6'3 267
-The Jets are actually (gulp) having trouble getting to the passer this year. Beal is a pure pass rusher who I would compare to a more physically gifted Elvis Dumervil.

29. New England- Mark Ingram RB Alabama 5'10 215
-The Pats are becoming more like their teams that won super bowls. Ingram would give them a running back that isn't flashy but has been well taught from a pro system and could step in and start from day one.

30. Atlanta- Jared Crick DE/DT Nebraska 6'6 285
-Another young team coming of age. The offense is solid as can be, but the defense is a little thing on the line. Crick is a versatile talent that can play inside or out.

31. NY Giants- Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame 6'6 260
-Giants are my pick to go to the SB out of the NFC this year. Kevin Boss is a good target, but Rudolph is the type that can stretch the field and he could be a great fit in their offense.

32. Pittsburgh- Anthony Castanzo OT Boston College 6'7 295
-Keeping Big Ben upright isn't easy with how much he moves around. But this year's line is struggling big time. Steelers are the odds on favorites for the Super Bowl, but the offensive line may derail those hopes.
