Stare, Squint, Nod 2 (Round 1)

Here is an updated Mock Draft. Note: Last draft I considered only underclassmen I thought would enter. This draft has been made to include ALL eligible underclassmen, which most likely won't end up happening with the lockout coming...but alas...

1. Carolina- A.J. Green WR Georgia 6'4 190
-Panthers should trade down if they get #1. Their needs go way beyond a position...or two....or three. Green would be a nice target for Clausen going forward, guy is a stud.

2. Buffalo- Andrew Luck QB Stanford 6'4 235
-The Bills finally get a franchise QB. They have not had stability this quality of a QB since Jim Kelly (sorry Flutie). He could have a Sam Bradford-like effect on this team.

3. Cincinnati- DaQuan Bowers DE Clemson 6'4 280
-The bungles are still the bungles. Bowers would be an elite defensive end, something they have actually never had.

4. Detroit- Patrick Peterson CB LSU 6'1 218
-If Champ Bailey had a clone, it would be this guy. Size, speed, ball-skills. Peterson should be an elite corner in this league.

5. Arizona- Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas 6'7 238
-Why Mallett? I'll give you three reasons. Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton--those are Arizona's 3 QBs.

6. Denver- Marcel Dareus DE/DT Alabama 6'3 306
-Now that McDaniels is gone they can really try to build a 3-4, by ya know, drafting someone that fits the scheme.

7. San Francisco- Jake Locker QB Washington 6'2 223
-Along with a new coach the Niners will likely need a new QB. Alex Smith has had his chance. Locker was projected by many as the #1 overall pick if he came out last year.

8. Dallas- Nate Solder OT Colorado 6'9 305
-This Cowboy surge makes you wonder was Wade Phillips really that bad? Well, the offensive line is either way, Solder can be a very good LT for years to come.

9. Washington- Julio Jones WR Alabama 6'4 210
-McNabb just got a new contract, so Shanny will want to get him some weapons. Jones has NFL #1 receiver written all over him, he's a physical force that should make an immediate impact.

10. Tennessee- Nick Fairley DT Auburn 6'4 299
-That Titans defense hasn't been the same since losing Haynesworth. Fairley is cut from much of the same mold. It's not often to see Fisher's Titans drafting this high.

11. Minnesota- Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska 6'1 200
-Minnesota has struggled all year against the pass. Antoine Winfield is solid, but aging, and Asher Allen on the other corner? Yikes. Amukamara will start from day one.

12. Houston- Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa 6'3 282
-The Texans largest need is in the secondary--but there's no way they could pass on Clayborn. Overall, he may be the most complete defensive player in this draft, rushing the passer and stuffing the run.

13. Cleveland- Marcus Cannon OL TCU 6'6 350
-The Browns are building a foundation on the line. With Joe Thomas already in place, Cannon (probably the best mauler in the draft) would look great paving the way for Hillis.

14. Seattle- Cameron Newton QB Auburn 6'6 250
-If you recall I had Newton as a 1st rd pick well before Kiper had him on the big board. Why? Vince Young went #3 overall. Newton is bigger, and a better passer. Some GM will be too ga-ga over his athletic ability to pass on him.

15. Miami- Anthony Castanzo OL Boston College 6'7 295
-Jake Long has solidified one side, bringing in Castanzo will give whoever Miami's Quarterback is a great set of tackles to protect himself. His size and athleticism could make him the best overall lineman in the draft.

16. New England (from Oakland)- Akeem Ayers LB UCLA 6'4 252
-Another great defensive player. The Pats got this pick from the Raiders and they would love to add a pass rushing linebacker that can do it all like Ayers. This guy has multiple pro bowls written all over him.

17. Indianapolis- Drake Nevis DT LSU 6'1 290
-Nevis has shown flashes of greatness this season. He's a little undersized, he's probably closer to 280 but the Colts love those undersized players that give them a quickness advantage. Nevis will provide that.

18. San Diego- Allen Bailey DE/DT Miami (FL) 6'4 290
-The Bolts defense has struggled late in the season, especially against the run. Bailey is very versatile and will do a good job against the run. He's an athletic monster that a pro coach can bring the best out of.

19. Tampa Bay- Robert Quinn DE North Carolina 6'4 298
-Quinn did not play all season due to suspension. Had he played he had a chance to be a top 5 pick. As long as he has stayed in shape (will find out at combine) he would be a steal at this pick.

20. NY Giants- Gabe Carimi OL Wisconsin 6'8 320
-The Giants are absolutely loaded on defense. In fact, you can argue that there isn't a team as loaded as the Giants. The only real need is on the O-line. Carimi (winner of the Outland Trophy) is a dominant physical force and will be a great run blocker.

21. St. Louis- Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State 6'2 207
-Blackmon has been the best WR in the country this season. The fact that more than half of football fans can't name who St. Louis' #1 WR is makes this a no brainer.

22. Jacksonville- Leonard Hankerson WR Miami (FL) 6'3 215
-Speaking of no-name WR cores. Garrard has had a solid year throwing to the likes of Mike Thomas, Tiquan Underwood, and Mike Sims-Walker (who's fallen off Earth). Hankerson is big and is deceptively fast and will give the Jags a legit #1 option.

23. Kansas City- Jeremy Beal DE/OLB Oklahoma 6'3 260
-The Chiefs are starting to come together. They could use another pass rusher and there may not be a better one than Jeremy Beal. In a 4-3 he could play rush end, but in a 3-4 he has the athleticism to be an every down 3-4 OLB.

24. Philadelphia- Quan Sturdivant LB North Carolina 6'2 232
-The Eagles defense has been surprisingly porous this season. The addition of a tough MLB Sturdivant can give them their first solid guy in the middle since Trotter.

25. Baltimore- Aaron Williams CB Texas 6'1 189
-Other than Ed Reed (who may not play much longer) the Ravens secondary is pretty bad. Williams has the size and speed to be a very good corner in the league. The only thing holding this defense back right now is the corners.

26. Green Bay- Ryan Williams RB Virginia Tech 5'10 206
-Look at this team and what do they really need? Not much. Ryan Williams could give them great balance and make the offense even tougher to stop. With the uncertainty around Grant's injury, I don't think the Pack want to rely on John Kuhn/Brandon Jackson again.

27. Chicago- Derrick Sherrod OL Mississippi State 6'6 305
-Martz has not been put his offense into full effect because of the sieve of an offensive line they have in Chicago. Sherrod was thought to be a top ten pick before the season, but he has not matured as some would have hoped.

28. New Orleans- Stefan Wisniewski C/OG Penn State 6'3 298
-Another loaded team that just needs some depth. Wisniewski can play any of the three interior line positions making him very valuable to a team that seems to have o-line injury problems every year.

29. Pittsburgh- Rodney Hudson OL Florida State 6'2 285
-The Steelers O-line is the only weakness of this team. This season it will probably be the reason they do not end up in the Super Bowl. Getting Hudson will give the Steelers a guy who started all 4 seasons at FSU.

30. NY Jets- Cameron Jordan DE/DT California 6'4 290
-The Jets up-front have not been as stout as you would expect from a Rex Ryan defense (Woodhead is still going). Jordan could play the nose in some situations but he would be absolutely perfect to play end in a 3-4.

31. Atlanta- Brandon Harris CB Miami (FL) 5'11 195
-The Falcons defense has been surprisingly solid this season. Corner could use a little bit of an upgrade next to Dunta. Harris is a smart, athletic player who will be a solid corner in this league.

32. New England- Mark Ingram RB Alabama 5'10 215
-Their second first round pick goes to help their biggest need on offense. Ben Jarvus Green-Ellis and Woodhead have done a nice job filling their roles, but are not the complete back that Ingram could be for them.
